Karsten Guenther is Head of Innovation & Producer at Bavaria Fiction. Among his works is the series Things We Fear, the first ZDFneo original in the horror genre, which received numerous honors and nominations, including the Grimme Award, the German Television Award, and the DafFNE Award of the German Television Academy. He also produced Drive – The Pretenders (WT), the first high-end feature produced by Bavaria Fiction for Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, scheduled for global release in 2026/2027. In addition, he produces crime films for ZDF’s Monday and Saturday primetime slots, including Der Garmisch-Krimi – Wolfsmord and Dengler – Kreuzberg Blues, as well as several films for ARD Degeto’s Friday primetime strand.
Previously, he held senior roles at Axel Springer SE, one of Europe’s leading digital media companies, where he built new creative units and most recently served as Head of Creative Strategy & Business Development, overseeing cross-platform content strategy and strategic partnerships. As part of the company’s Silicon Valley Fellowship, he also worked in Mountain View, New York, and Los Angeles. He gained additional international experience in the streaming series development department at Lionsgate Entertainment in Los Angeles. In 2014, he received the Transmedia Award at the Munich Film Festival. Karsten Guenther is a graduate of the University of Television and Film Munich (HFF).
