Munich – Bavaria Fernsehproduktion, one of Germany’s largest providers of television content, is expanding to include new areas of television development and production in the international arena.  Established in 1919, Bavaria Film, one of the most respected film studios in the world, continues to evolve and to use its vast track record and contacts to move into the international television series business. Announced today by Jan S. Kaiser, Managing Director, Bavaria Fernsehproduktion, the new position of Executive Producer, International Television Series will be filled by Moritz Polter.

Polter’s responsibilities include securing and developing new projects, positioning them at networks and thereby securing financing. He will set up co-productions with international partners and will produce them.

“International productions, especially in the series area, are a growth market. I am therefore very happy that we were able to sign Moritz Polter as Executive Producer,” says Jan S. Kaiser, Managing Director, Bavaria Fernsehproduktion.  “He has broad experience, a wide range of contacts and has produced exciting shows. With him on board, we will develop and grow this new business venture for years to come.”

Polter’s extensive experience, most recently as Vice President Production and Producer at Tandem Productions, makes him an ideal fit for the new position at Bavaria. Among the many productions he produced are Crossing Lines, Seasons 1, 2 and 3 now rolling out internationally; the new, critically-acclaimed series, Spotless for CANAL+ that just completed a successful run on NBCUniversal’s Esquire Network and miniseries Labyrinth, based on the international bestselling novel by Kate Mosse, with Scott Free Productions’ Ridley Scott and Liza Marshall.

Additional productions he worked on include the miniseries Impact, which aired successfully on ABC and the worldwide hit miniseries The Pillars of the Earth with Ridley Scott’s Scott Free Productions.

“The opportunity to build something new in an internationally renowned company is very compelling,” says Polter. “The timing is perfect - the interest for international series and co-productions thrives. At Bavaria, there is a sense of renewal as the television market changes rapidly. We want to utilize this potential to inspire viewers, together with new co-production partners.”

Among the great talent that Moritz Polter worked with over the years are actors John Hurt, Denis Ménochet, Jessica Brown Findlay, Brendan Coyle, Sean Bean, Donald Sutherland, William Fichtner, Goran Visnjic, Carrie-Anne Moss, Ray Stevenson and showrunners Adrian Hodges, Ed Bernero, Frank Spotnitz and Ed McCardie as well as directors Daniel Percival, Christopher Smith, Mikael Salomon and many more.
